Pulse was written in response to the Pulse Nightclub shootings in Daytona, Florida. As the three of us are apart of the LGBT community we were really rocked by it. In a way it helped us process what had happened, and we hope it can help other people process it, as well. While also bringing attention to the fact that we still have a lot of work to do to keep the LGBTQIA community safe.

Lyrics

Pulse

We are still the minority
We are still the targeted
We are still the people
That must live in fear
We are still afraid
We are still well aware
That there are people with guns
That don’t even care

We will stand together
And fight to be free
From ignorance and violence
That constantly scares me

We will stand together
We will stand together
We will stand together
Whoa

A place you thought was safe
To be who you are
A place where
You made memories
Became a nightmare
Became hell on earth
All because
He loved him and she loved her

We feel a pulse
We feel a pulse
We feel pulse
Whoa whoa
